George Hone was born in 1810 to George and Ann Hone in Buckinghamshire, England, the third of seven children.
Mary Boss was born in 1833 to Sarah Boss in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. She grew up with a stepfather and younger half-sibling.
Life in England
George and Mary married in 1833 and lived in a few different villages near Banbury. In the 1860s, they moved north to Greater Manchester.
