Mary Ann Niblett was born in 1821 to John and Mary Niblett in Avening, the 6th of 10 children.

Life in England

Nathaniel and Mary married in 1840. They spent 7 years in Avening before moving to Yorkshire, settling in the town of Halifax.

Mary Ann and two of her sisters, Thirza and Helen, were introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Thirza's husband, John William Whiting. Mary Ann and Helen, with their husbands Nathaniel and James, were baptized in 1843, just 3 years after Wilford Woodruff commenced missionary work in the area.
