John and Sarah brought 8 children to Canada: Eliza (about age 21), James Miller (about age 15), Sophia (about age 14), Ann (about age 11), Benjamin (about age 10), Mary (about age 6), Timothy (about age 3), and Alfred (about age 1).

As a young adult, James left home and traveled through New York, working as a farm hand. There he met his future wife, joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and settled in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Descendants

Eliza, Sophia, Ann, Benjamin, Mary, Timothy, Alfred, Hyrum, and their families remained in Essex County.

James and his family followed the Latter-day Saints to Utah, where they settled in Payson.
