A Place describing a medium-sized political division—typically something like a state, province, or small country. These pages are primarily used for grouping, but may also contain relevant historical information, landmarks, and resources for research.

The modern name of the Territory is used; if, in the past, another name was used or political boundaries were different, the page should describe how the modern area was referred to and affiliated historically. Redirects may point from an old to a new name.

Territories are grouped into Regions and enclose Locales.
