Parent's Childhood

Jesse Woodrow Ludlow ("Red") was born in 1914 to Jesse and Florence Ludlow in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Alta Francis was born in 1920 to Joseph and Ursula Francis in Lake Shore, Utah, near Spanish Fork.

Family Life

Red and Alta spent most of their adult lives in Spanish Fork, from the 1930s to the 1990s. During World War II, Red served in the National Guard and was deployed away from his family for about 4 years.

Red joined the National Guard in March 1941, early in World War II (a few months before the Pearl Harbor attack). Kirk was born three months later during training in California. When Red was deployed to the Pacific Theater, Alta and Kirk returned to Utah, living at 335 S Main St, Spanish Fork.

After military service, Red built a house at 250 West 100 South in Spanish Fork, adjacent to his parents' house. They raised five children there. Red worked as a truck driver for McCord Oil Company and American Oil Company. Alta worked as a restaurant cook and, in her later years, managed the Provo Temple cafeteria.

Alta had cancer and died in 1992. Red died the same day.
